Day 2 — Little Red Dress

Day two of the Color Rotation challenge! I love it. I went with a dark red, kind of a winter red. I would have liked to go a little brighter, because it was a beautiful day, but I wanted to get one last wear out of this dress before it got too warm. I don’t think the color would work in the spring or summer. What do you think?

If you have sharp eyes, you might notice that it’s the same dress I wore Friday, just in red instead of black (see Purple Pop!). This is something I’m notorious for with my friends: If I find something I like, I buy it in as many colors as I can. But come on! The dress was $11 and it has POCKETS. Can you blame me?

Because it was still a little chilly today, I wore it with tights. I bought these with this dress in mind — I figured white tights might make the dark red look a little brighter. They’re so cute and patterned!

I loved the look all together (despite the fact that tights + mildly too-large wedges = lost my shoes on the stairs five times). I got a ton of compliments, and people kept asking me if I was dressed up for something. They’ll get used to it — I think the weather is supposed to be nice from here on out, so I’m going to try to wear dresses or skirts as much as possible.

My one qualm was that the look might have been kind of little-girl, which is something I always try to avoid as a 4’11” girl. What do you think I could do to make it a little more mature?

So, day 2 was a success! Tomorrow is supposed to be orange, but I’m going green for St. Pat’s. Cheers!

I think you look great in that red dress. I don’t think colors can be reserved only for certain seasons, it depends on how you style it that makes it more seasonal. Materials and certain patterns can be more seasonal, but even so, people are prone to break these rules too.

Good luck with the color rotation and sign up for the Petite Fashion Challenge! I’m hosting this month and it’s pretty simple. The challenge is to dress up your basic jean and tee outfit to show your personality. (I have a button on my sidebar that links to post about it) =)

Thank you! I love the dress, and I’ll have to play around with it to see how I can make it more summer-appropriate. Lose the tights, obviously, and probably a pair of open sandals?
I’m glad you reminded me about the Petite Fashion Challenge — I planned to participate but totally forgot to sign up! Sounds like a good idea and a fun challenge.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting — I’m a huge fan of your blog, so it means a lot to me 🙂

It is hard to tell the detail of the picture but I think you could wear it in the spring/summer with a white cardigan or white accents to make it seem lighter. Also a white belt or something to brighten it up. You could so keep wearing it.

Wow you are 4’11. I read 3 blogs at least where the person is 4’11. I didn’t realize that height was so common.

I only know 3 other people who are 4’11”, and one is my mother 😉 I love the petite blogging community because it makes me feel like I’m not alone! So great.

I love the idea of white accents with the dress. I don’t know if I could belt it, because of the pockets, but some kind of white necklace, or another bright color? I’ll give it a try.
